Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Humi (“Humi”, “we”, “us”) handles information on this website and in the Humi app. We have tried to keep it plain and short, because Humi is built to know as little about you as possible.
The short version
- Humi has no accounts and no servers of its own. What the app learns about how you listen stays on your phone.
- We do not use advertising, analytics, tracking or crash-reporting tools in the app.
- The one thing that can leave your phone is an optional weather request, which is off until you turn it on.
- On this website, the only information we collect is the email address you give us to join the waitlist.
- We never sell your information.
1. This website
Waitlist. If you join the waitlist, we collect your email address so we can tell you when Humi is available. We use it for that purpose only. The form is processed by Web3Forms, which receives your email address and forwards it to us. We keep it until we have sent you the launch announcement, or until you ask us to remove it, whichever comes first.
Hosting. The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel’s servers receive technical details of each visit (such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested) in order to deliver the page and keep it secure.
Cookies and storage. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. If you switch between the light and dark theme, your choice is saved in your own browser so the site remembers it. Fonts are served from this site, not from a third party.
2. The Humi app
Stored on your phone. Humi keeps its data in a private database on your device. This includes your settings and favorites, which soundscapes you listened to and for how long, the sessions you ran with a timer, how you adjusted sound volumes, and your own versions of soundscapes. Humi uses this to open in the right mode for the time of day, to suggest soundscapes, to set the length of the smart and usual timers, and to start mixes closer to how you like them. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else.
Location (optional). Humi can ask for your phone’s approximate location. It is used to greet you by sunrise and sunset and, only if you also turn on weather, to look up the weather. You can refuse the permission; Humi then falls back to the clock.
Weather (optional, off by default). If you turn on weather, Humi sends your latitude and longitude, rounded to one decimal place (about 10 km), together with an app name and a contact address for the app, to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway, api.met.no), and receives the current sky and temperature. Like any web request, MET Norway’s servers also see your phone’s IP address. Nothing about your listening, sessions, mixes or settings is sent, and the weather answer is kept in memory only.
Other permissions. Humi asks to show a playback notification so you can control sound from the lock screen (Android 13 and later). It keeps audio playing with the screen off through a media playback service. One soundscape, Dreaming Mist, reads your phone’s motion sensors while it is on screen so the picture can lean with the phone; nothing from the sensors is stored or sent. While sound plays, Humi reads your battery level to stop playback when it is low; that level is not stored or sent.
Sharing. If you share a Focus summary card, it is drawn on your phone and goes only where you send it. Humi does not see where it went.
Backups. Your phone’s own backup (for example Google’s Android backup or iCloud) may include Humi’s data in your personal device backup. That is your backup, controlled by you and your phone maker; Humi does not receive it.
If we add paid features. Humi launches free. If we later offer a paid plan, purchases would be handled by the app store and a billing service, which would receive purchase details but not your listening information. We will update this policy before that happens.
3. Your choices and controls
- Clear what Humi has learned. In the app’s settings, this deletes your listening history, sessions and volume habits, and forgets your saved location.
- Location and weather. Turn them off in the app at any time, or remove the location permission in your phone’s settings.
- Delete everything. Uninstalling Humi removes all of its data from your phone.
- Waitlist. Email us at [email protected] and we will remove your address.
4. Who we share information with
We do not sell or rent personal information. The only parties that handle information as described above are Web3Forms (waitlist form delivery), Vercel (website hosting) and, if you turn on weather in the app, MET Norway. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
5. Where information is processed
Web3Forms and Vercel may process information on servers outside the Philippines. We choose providers that protect information with reasonable safeguards.
6. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. Data inside the app is protected by your phone’s own security, so keep your device updated and locked. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure.
7. Children
Humi is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has joined the waitlist, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your rights
Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), you have the right to be informed, to access your personal data, to correct it, to object to its processing, to ask for it to be erased or blocked, to data portability, and to be indemnified for damages. You may also complain to the National Privacy Commission at privacy.gov.ph. If you live elsewhere, you may have similar rights under your local law. To use any of these rights, email us.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Humi grows. We will change the date at the top, and for material changes we will tell you in the app or on this site.
